Analysis of China's Organosilicon Monomer Capacity Pattern and Global Share

    China's organosilicon monomer production has formed large-scale industrial clusters. Core factories are mainly concentrated in industrial bases such as Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, and Yunnan provinces, with leading enterprises like Jiangxi Organosilicon Monomer Factories as representatives. Among them, the single park of Yongxiu Xinghuo Industrial Park in Jiangxi has gathered a number of core production enterprises, forming an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of organosilicon monomers.


    From a global perspective, the current total global production capacity of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) – a core intermediate of organosilicon – is approximately 4.8 to 5 million tons. Relying on the advantages of industrial clusters, China accounts for over 65% of the global production capacity, making it the world's largest organosilicon production base.


    It is worth noting that leading domestic enterprises are still continuously expanding their production capacity. For example, after the commissioning of the new 200,000-ton organosilicon monomer project of Jiangxi Organosilicon Factory, its production capacity will reach 700,000 tons, and it is expected to become the world's largest organosilicon monomer production enterprise. In contrast, the overseas market has seen capacity contraction due to cost pressures. For instance, Dow announced that it will close the 145,000-ton DMC production capacity of its Barry plant in the UK from 2026 to 2027, which further consolidates China's core position in the global organosilicon capacity pattern.
